Spring Equinox 2010

Hi all

Hope that this gets you thinking about this time of year and that you are inspired to let us know how you celebrate/feel or act, a message, a poem, prose, a painting, music, jewelry, dance or any form of artistic expression would be very welcome!

Spring Equinox, Vernal Equinox, Alban Eiler, Ostara, Eostre, Easter, Higan (Japan), Nowruz (Iran), Independence Day (Tunisia), Earth Day (Green), Baha’I New Year, Holi (Hindu)……………

All over the world people celebrate this beautiful Sun Festival!

The equinox approaches, this wonderful time of balance, equality and harmony in dark and light, the excitement of knowing that the balance is shifting into light, I love it – winter blues being blown away by growth and new life.

I wonder if any of you have been watching The Wonders of the Solar System – fascinating and beautiful – the sun, the life bringer, our brilliant star.

Now is a time of fertility and growth, a time for sowing seeds, literal and metaphorical, for watching flora and fauna going just a bit crazy in the urge to reproduce, like the amazing hares who are usually nocturnal but in March, well…..
It’s a time for nesting, refreshing, launching new ideas, careers, relationships, a time for preparation for the coming bountiful months ahead.

This is also an opportunity for reflection, introspection and evaluation of current events and/or situations in your life, to think about where there may be imbalance, where you might need to let go of the past and focus on preparing for the future, how you can realize your dreams and desires. The process helps to shift the balance into areas of your life that may have been neglected over the winter month when survival mode can unwittingly engage!

Old traditions for celebrating include: wear green, ritually plant seeds, bless the earth, draw water from a running stream before sunrise, dye and decorate eggs and give them to friends.

Most of all enjoy the equinox wherever you are, be happy, be supported, be in gratitude (My favourite word just now – my coach’s fault, bless her!)

Celtic hugs
With
Love and Light
Lindsey

PS - In a pink fluffy mood clearly!
